Before and after photo of our fireplace. We used slate tile on the hearth and glass tiles for the face. We found the mantle on craigslist for $50 which was originally larger but cut to fit. All materials and install for $500 total. Prior to redoing the fireplace we pulled up our carpet and refinished the hardwood. Only regret is that we did not remove the wood paneling from the wall! We didn’t realize the fireplace would turn out so well!

We just replaced our old fireplace surround with a natural stone-it went right over the old tile. It came in sheets that were supposed to “finger” together, but the lengths of the pieces were so non-standard from sheet to sheet we ended up taking apart most of the sheets and putting each piece on manually! That was a lengthy install!!

Completed a large remodel of half of our boring, 1978 ranch home last year. if he could create a metal surround. We love the finished product which incorporates a built-in firewood storage box underneath, as well as our existing wood-burning stove insert. Also, for the mantle we were able to use these antique oak bridge beams as that had been sitting in the driveway for 17 years!

I have a in my kitchen room which is lit today, one in our front room which gets lit when the kids are in town or we have visitors.
